Instructions for adhesive
Technical notes for the bonding and storage of our self-adhesive items.
SURFACE:
The surfaces onto which the adhesive tape is to be applied must be sound, grease, dust, dirt and condensation free. Furthermore, the surface must be suitable for the adhesive: it must be flat, undamaged from weathering, and not have any loose particles, or contain emollients; also adhesive-resistant varnishes or lacquers must not have been previously applied.
We recommend to clean the surface with industrial benzene or acetone and in particular:
Acetone for metal and aluminium
Industrial benzene for lacquered surfaces and plastics.
BONDING INFLUENCING FACTORS:
An optimal adhesion is obtained if the surface and the adhesive tape have a minimum temperature of 20°C.
It is also important to apply some pressure to the tape (with a rubber roller for example)
HOW TO INTENSIFY THE ADHESION:
The adhesion can be improved by means of short heat exposure, for example 2 minutes warm air at 60-80°C or in a climatic cabinet
LOAD:
To ensure a good bond is achieved, it is recommended not to load the tape for a minimum time of 30 minutes. Optimum results after 2-24 hours.
REMOVAL OF ADHESIVE TRACES:
Suitable solvents are for example:
detergent benzene, acetone, ethyl acetate
Attention! Especially in presence of paint and plastics, always check the compatibility of the surface before use.
PRELIMINARY TESTS AND PRACTICAL VERIFICATIONS:
These are an absolute necessity, for the wide variety of surfaces and the environmental conditions (temperature, humidity etc.)
It is strongly recommended to conduct suitability trials.
STORAGE:
In a dry, dark and dust free environment with temperatures not exceeding 25°C the shelf life is 12 months from date of manufacture.
